On behalf of the government and people of Japan, paid tribute Hatoyama highest for services Wahid. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Okada said, Japan will always remember the great service in running Wahid political reform, education, social and culture in Indonesia.


U.S. Embassy in Jakarta in a press release also stated condolences. U.S. Ambassador Cameron R Hume said, Indonesia has lost an inspirational leader and a fighter humanity. "Gus Dur has many admirers in the U.S., and he will always be remembered for gentleness, tolerance, respect for human rights, and has a strong commitment to democracy," said Hume.

Gus Dur, he said, during live play an important role in the rise of civil society in Indonesia.
